The Maldives Police Service reported that from 26 April to 2 May 2026, officers conducted over 15,000 location checks, responded to more than 390 incidents, and made 39 arrests across Malé, Hulhumalé, and Thilamale. The operations involved units including Drug Enforcement and Gang Crime Enforcement, reflecting ongoing efforts to maintain safety and security through patrols, traffic control, and investigations.

At the 52nd session of the Universal Periodic Review, the Maldives commended Niger for its efforts to promote and protect human rights through policies and programmes in education, water and sanitation, and women’s economic empowerment.
