Preparations for the inaugural route between Velana International Airport (MLE) and Melbourne (MEL) on 17 May 2026 were discussed during a meeting between the High Commissioner, MD Ibrahim Iyas, and the leadership team of Maldivian. The new connection is expected to strengthen tourism, trade, and people-to-people links between the two countries.
