Maldives Calls for Veto Reform at UN Security Council Talks

At the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) on UN Security Council reform, the Maldives called for the abolition of the veto, or at minimum, stricter restraint in its use—particularly in cases involving genocide. Emphasizing the need for change, the Maldives underscored that a reformed UN Security Council must be more representative, accountable, and better equipped to act in the interests of all Member States.
