The National Uro, Renal and Fertility Centre at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital successfully concluded its second batch of peritoneal dialysis training held from 12–16 April 2026. Five nurses from Fuvahmulah, Kaashidhoo, Villimalé Hospital, and the IGMH Dialysis Centre completed the program, strengthening clinical skills in Peritoneal Dialysis. The initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to enhancing competencies and improving the delivery of safe, high-quality renal care across the Maldives.

At 59th Session of the Commission on Population and Development, the Maldives reaffirmed that people-centred development is key to building resilient societies. The country highlighted its efforts in leveraging digital transformation to enhance public services, bridge geographic distances, and expand innovation and inclusion. It also called for equitable access to finance for Small Island Developing States, emphasizing the importance of global support in addressing shared development challenges.
